Prevent Blindness reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of See America photo submission. Prevent Blindness reserves the right to change the terms of the competition.
By submitting an entry to See America, you grant Prevent Blindness:
- Permission for your entry to be published on the See America and Prevent Blindness websites, including but not limited to see-america.org and preventblindness.org and Prevent Blindness social media sites, and you grant Prevent Blindness a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license under a Create Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License to use, republish, edit and/or modify your photo submission in any/all media for purposes connected with the photo submission and as described in these Terms and Conditions
- The right to use your name and state of residence for the sole purpose of identifying you as the author of your photo submission
Photo submissions must be made by respondents over the age of 18 (Eighteen). Those under 18, must have the permission of their parent/guardian
By submitting a photo to Prevent Blindness you confirm that you own the copyright to your photo submission as its author.
Your photo submission must be your own work, must not be copied, must not contain any third-party materials and/or content that you do not have permission to use, must not include any trademarks, and must not show inappropriate or dangerous behavior, or otherwise be obscene, defamatory, distasteful, offensive, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation, or in breach of any confidentiality obligations owed by you to third parties.
By submitting a photo, you also confirm that each individual whose image is featured in the photo submission has given consent for the use of his/her image in connection with this photo submission and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Where an individual whose image is featured in a photo submission is aged less than 18 years the person submitting the photo confirms that the parent or guardian of that individual has given the relevant consent.
We collect two kinds of information, website usage statistics, which are anonymous, and individual information.
Website Usage Statistics
Our web server automatically collects anonymous information about visitors to our site, such as the number of visitors, the pages they access, and the documents they download. This information is used in aggregate form in order to manage our website and improve its content.
We collect individual information about you when you choose to share information about yourself, for example, when you make a donation, request information or purchase materials. This information may include your postal or e-mail address and your telephone number.
Individual information is used to provide you with information or to deliver the service you have requested.
If you provide your postal address, telephone number or email address to Prevent Blindness online, you may receive any of the following periodic contacts from us:
- Mailings with information about additional Prevent Blindness programs, services and events
- Mailings that invite you to contribute to Prevent Blindness and its mission
- Prevent Blindness News, our periodic newsletter
- Telephone contact with information about orders you have placed online, as well as additional vision-related information
- E-mail contact to respond to your questions, comments or suggestions
- An E-mail newsletter. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any time

Prevent Blindness will not share or sell your personal information obtained via the website with other organizations or businesses. Prevent Blindness may share personal information (postal address) of constituents we contact solely through the U.S. Postal Service. All mailed communication to constituents include a method for opting out of any sharing of their data. We will share personal information obtained online only when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our rights, or protect the safety of our users or others. Constituents can have their names removed from any postal mailing list Prevent Blindness shares or sells by calling us at 1-800-331-2020 or sending an email to email@example.com.
We may occasionally send out an email newsletter and direct email communications to highlight news, information and opportunities available from Prevent Blindness. You may elect not to have us contact by calling us at 1-800-331-2020, or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prevent Blindness does not store any credit card information or constituent personal data on its websites/online. We employ service provider DonorDrive (Global Cloud) for our online user email and customer databases.
DonorDrive does not store any credit card information. They are responsible solely for transmitting cardholder data to the payment gateway for processing customer payments and online donations. Any billing information that DonorDrive accepts in this process is encrypted and passed through to the payment gateway using TLS 1.0+ technology (all gateway transactions are TLS 1.2). DonorDrive is fully PCI compliant.
All Prevent Blindness constituent and donor information processed in DonorDrive undergoes 1.0+ encryption. Our online user database stored by DonorDrive features their enterprise-level, application level protection with managed backups, advanced monitoring and a robust intrusion prevention system. Nevertheless, despite our best efforts and those of our service providers, no transmission over the Internet and no data storage method can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
